Hi Guys
Here is a short update about skiing in Cham. Yesterday a number of us had probably the best day of the season. Near knee deep fluffy snow on the Grand Montets was pure heaven, we nailed a number of warm up runs here scooting round quickly to the lift after each run. Then to spice it up we decided to drop into the Rectiligne Couloir and ski to the valley.
This proved to be a great choice and we experienced some great snow in a fantastic mountain situation (see photo to the left). The exit was a little funky as one poor snow boarder found out, he slipped and put a 9'' gash in his leg... nasty. The ski down the James Bond run was in great condition and we soon arrived in the valley. It was only 2.30 so we got over to the Midi lift and by 3.30 we were back to the top at 3800m. We almost had the Vallee Blanche to ourselves, and although the Gros Rognon had patches of wind blown snow it was basically awesome. The last pitch was over knee deep and face shots were received by all. The Geant icefall was in the best nick I have ever seen it, the wind had filled it all in and had a lovely ski to the Mer de Glace and then down to the valley, for that much needed beer. In all it had been a great day out with some of the best skiing of the season. A massive thanks to Jon Bracey, Ross Hewitt, Nick Bullock and Matt Dickinson for the company, and a special thanks to Nick for completely taking me out while I was standing minding my own business!!!

A grand day out
