The summit cross on the Jagihorn
Climbers normally think of Cogne in Italy as a great place to climb ice but Jazz and myself went there a couple of weeks ago and its lovely. I had never really stopped and looked around but Valnontey really is a beautiful place while the village of Cogne is full of great architecture, by all accounts we are moving there some time soon.
From Cogne we travelled to Gressoney, another winter venue (normally great skiing) but once again its a wonderfully beautiful village that has great wee cafes were one can sit out on a terrace with an afternoon wine in the sun.

In both places we camped which was very funny as it was Jazz's first time camping since being in the girl guides, but we did have as many mod cons in the car as possible, in fact the poor VW Golf was packed to the gunnels with equipment.
Our final port of call after seeing the St Bernards at Grand St Bernard Pass was Saas Grund. Here I wanted to show Jazz the Via Ferrata on te Jagihorn, but more than that the Monster Trottis.

We quickly polished off the climb which as ever was simply great before changing climbing helmets for bike helmets and "having it" on the Trotties. For those who don't know these are scooters on steroids and are seriously good fun. Even a huge rain storm couldn't damping the fun that was had.
Left foot first....or was it right??.....oh sh**.....
All in all it was a great relaxing few days and shows that the Alps doesn't always have to be about climbing mountains.
