Manaslu Base Camp

The Manaslu team are now all at Base Camp (4800m)!
Guy, Lynette and Doug arrived at Base Camp last week, having opted for the helicopter to Samagown, and have spent most of their time so far acclimatising well, but wondering where the mountain is - while a massive storm has raged. Meanwhile the rest of the team, including Emma, Rob, Bonita & Henry have been walking in and arrived at BC yesterday, bringing sunshine with them - finally!
Today was spent relaxing at base camp under gorgeous blue skies, admiring the view of the summit, washing clothes, relaxing and ironing out technical hitches with Satellite phones, solar panels etc.
The expedition is officially underway. Tomorrow's Puja (local blessing and important part of every Nepali climbing expedition) will mark the start of their ascent up the mountain and the first cycle of acclimatisation climbs.
Everyone's in good health, feeling strong, all acclimatising well, and looking forward to getting on with getting up there. Guy, Lynette and Doug plan to spend 3 nights at Camp 1 (5600m) from tomorrow, while the others will take things a little slower and will be following them up with Rob over the next few days.
Look out for new blog updates from Tuesday!
